Maxine Cameron trained at The Norwich School of Art under tutors John Lessore and John Wonnacot. She graduated in 1983 including a year at the Ecole des Beaux-arts de Nimes, France and won the Sir Winston Churchill Prize for Most Promising Young Artist.
She has worked as a practicing Artist ever since. From a body of contemporary work ranging from life models to figurative painting and expressionistic landscape studies of the East Anglia region of the UK, she passed through periods of abstract painting, minimalism, deconstructing the image and surrealism while thinking about metaphysics and quantum physics, which produced a series of wildlife work: depicting individual elements of life and beauty in large white spaces.
Now in 2011, she has returned to the animal themes: but bringing together a number of elements from previous work, invoking interesting correlations between the spatial perspectives and terms of reality: colour, abstracted harmonies and delicate landscapes form spatial works of celebration, fun and magical thinking.
